Remove Snorlax is a sub-glitch of the Trainer escape glitch in Generation I that allows players to remove Snorlax without the Poké Flute.

The player can remove both Snorlax by following the tricks in the subheadings below:

The Snorlax on Route 12 trick (south of Lavender Town) requires access to Lavender Town with Fly, as well as a Trainer on Route 12 never being beaten.

The Snorlax on Route 16 trick (west of Celadon City) requires access to Celadon City and Lavender Town with Fly, as well as the Trainer on Route 10 (north of Lavender Town) never being beaten.

Snorlax on Route 12 (south of Lavender Town)

  1. Fly away from the Gambler outside the Underground Tunnel (in Route 8, west of Lavender Town) by taking one step down towards him when he is off-screen, while holding Start.
  2. When the Start menu is open, select 'Pokémon', then choose a Pokémon with Fly and fly to Lavender Town.
  3. Walk down to Route 12, and battle any Trainer that can walk up to you there (past the gate it is still Route 12). Win or lose (but make sure you black out to Lavender Town if you lose)
  4. Walk back north to Lavender Town (or be sent there), make sure to open and close the start menu in case it is not the last text box in memory, and go west to Route 8. You will encounter a level 7 Pokémon.
  5. Defeat it or run away and the Snorlax on Route 12 should be gone.

Snorlax on Route 16 (west of Celadon City)

  1. Fly away from the Gambler outside the Underground Tunnel (in Route 8, west of Lavender Town) by taking one step down towards him when he is off-screen, while holding Start.
  2. When the Start menu is open, select 'Pokémon', then choose a Pokémon with Fly and fly to Celadon City.
  3. Make the first step on to Route 16 from the west. The music should change, or the palette should change if you are using a Game Boy Color or Super Game Boy (the palette change for a Game Boy Color is much harder to spot). If you are in doubt, walk up to the Snorlax and touch it.
  4. Go east of Celadon City and take the Underground Path to Route 8 (do not go to Saffron City).
  5. Walk to Lavender Town. Trainers will not battle you on the way even if they would normally see you.
  6. Have the first Trainer north of Lavender Town (with a Cubone) walk up to you and battle you. Either win or lose (losing preserves the Trainer, but make sure that your blackout location is in Lavender Town by healing there).
  7. Make sure that the start menu is the last text box in memory, then return to Route 8 to get the start menu to pop up itself. Close it to encounter a level 7 Tentacool, which you can either defeat or run away from.
  8. Afterwards, fly back to Celadon City and go to Route 8 and if done correctly, you should see that Snorlax is gone.
